Hello GISuser... and welcome to our Thursday edition of GISuser Today. I'm hoping most, or atleast some of you, have been checking in on the updates at GISuser and the AnyGeo blog periodically. If you've forgotten or been too busy then you really aren't staying up on happenings in the industry and for you managers that could be costing you business and your competitive advantage... just saying! Moving on, a few notable updates to hit GISuser include details of the facebook acquisition of Oculus and their Oculus VR technology. You may think "big deal", however, this immersive, 3D, AR experience could indeed be a game changer in many industries, and not just gaming! Case in point, imagine a first responder walking through a smoke filled building and wearing an Oculus headset displaying real time data and a 3D floor plan of the building, or think about pitching a client a proposed redesign of a facility and they can walk around the site in an immersive, 3D environment... just a couple of ways the Geotech developer can leverage this platform. As you know, the search for the lost Malaysian airliner continues and data providers have been getting loads of attention from the media. ExactEarth has shared some maps and details of the search area and adds a little moer context to the recovery effort. Google fanatics and Android developers, take note that I/O is just around the corner and your chance to register is coming up fast - details can be found on the blog. Finally, Autodesk has today released details of the Autodesk 2015 design suites which are now more tightly integrated with Autodesk cloud services - nice! Details on all these topics are below or you can seek them out on our site - have a great day!
