Q:How can our company have news/PR featured at GISuser? A: Simply send your news release (ASCII text format please) to press@NOSPAMgisuser.com (remove NOSPAM) News must be geospatial in context to be considered.
Q: I can't seem to view the Job listings or RFPS, how come?
A: These are both Free services, however, you will need to login to your GISuser.com account in order to view content in those areas... we consider that to be "Premium Content Areas". All this is required of you is to establish a simple username/password pair and that's it! Create a user account here
Q:Our company may be interested in having a white paper or article published on GISuser... is this possible?
A: Most likely. All editorial and feature contributions are screened by our Editor and publisher. We are glad to receive your abstract and will promptly notify you about having your article featured. Simply send your article or contribution (ASCII text format please) to editor[at]gisuser.com.
Q:Glenn Letham is the Managing Editor? I thought he was Editor at another GIS website?
A: Nope! Glenn went out on his own and founded GISuser with some new partners in late 2003.
Q:What's the difference between registering for the newsletter and signing up as a GISuser Account?
A: Simple... newsletter subscribers are requesting to receive our news blasts, whereas account holders establish a username/password pair which will give them access to "Registered User Only" areas and content.
Q:How can I get a weblink added to your links page?
A: the best way is to register as a GISuser Site user then you can do this easily from the website. The alternative is to send your request to the editor {editor[at]gisuser.com}
Q:What are the benefits of becoming an account holder?
A: Once logged-in, Account holders will have access to a special "User Menu" providing links to content areas only accessible to account holders. Regsitered users can post their weblink, post an event, and post threads in the discussion area. In time additional features will be developed for registered "GISusers".
Q:Is there a cost to become an account holder?
A: Nope.. its Free!
Q:I noticed you have an RSS feed (Syndication) how can I use this - I've heard alot about it lately?
A: It's relatively simple but requires a bit of homework on your part. We suggest you start by getting yourself a news aggregator - See NewsGator (Outlook), NetNewsWire (Mac OS), BlogExpress (WIN), or Pluck - our friends at CADwire have a really good primer about RSS feeds also.
Q:Where are you located?
A: Good question... Editorial and site content is run out of our office in Victoria, BC, Canada. Our corporate facilities and HQ is in Frederick, Maryland. We also have staff in Michigan.
Q:How can I subscribe to your newsletter?
A: You can subscribe using the newsetter registration box on the home page; click on the "Newsletter" link on the top navigation bar; or send a subscribe email message to info[at]gisuser.com
Q:How can I unsubscribe from the newsletter?
A: Every mailout should have an unsubscribe link posted at the bottom. If that doesn't work for you simply send an unsubscribe request via email to info[at]gisuser.com
Q:The website doesn't all fit in my browser... why not?
A: Our website is potimized for a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768. Anything smaller will result in user being required to scroll.
Q:How can I reach you by phone?
A: In order to cut down on unsolicited mail and phone calls we have not published our phone numbers online. The best solution is to send an email to the appropriate contact and request the phone number.. we will be happy to provide you with the number.
Q:I'm having trouble accessing part of the site and I think a section may be broken. Who should I contact?
A: Since the site is brand new we won't be surprised to hear about some minor problems. If you encounter a broken link or a module that isn't working, please send a brief message to info[at]gisuser.com.
Q:I'd like to add your RSS feed to my website but I'm having trouble.
A: We suggest you consult a tutorial like this one http://www.mnot.net/rss/tutorial/. This tutorial from SUN and this one from WebMonkey is pretty good also!
