Glenn
Hello GISuser... and welcome to our Thursday geotech news roundup. I had a chance to listen to David Suzuki last night, thanks to the University School of Earth and Ocean Science for that opportunity. It's always a good day when you get an opportunity to hit a meetup with one of teh World's leading environmentalists delivering his thoughts. Suzuki is passionate about the environment and climate, like many of you, and he's worked effortlessly to help create liveable communities and connect people with nature. I suppose more than anything, I left the event with a reminder of the issues and problems we all face by living in a society where environmental matters are argued and addressed in the economic realm. Speaking of the environment, an interesting event to remind you about, enter the Summit on Earth Observation Business, Paris, Sept 11-12 - This event, organized as part of the World Satellite Business Week, offers participants a valuable opportunity to discuss current and future trends, challenges and opportunities occurring in the Earth observation sector and to network and strike business deals. While I'm on the topic of events, did you manage to catch the Esri DevSummit Chris Wanstrath (GitHub) plenary video? Chris, the founder and CEO of GitHub, is an outspoken open source advocate who's made hundreds of contributions to open source projects, and he's spoken at events like NASA Open Source Summit, RailsConf, Open Source Bridge and OSCON. Loads of goodies listed below so please, check them out, have a read and have a great day!
