Hello GISuser... Welcome once again to another Geo-Tech news update. To start, lets hype a cool, mobile app that a number of local governments are using to communicate with the local population - enter GORequest. GORequest for iPhone, the Government outreach mobile app, enables citizens to communicate with local government and report items of concern. This application takes crowd-sourcing to a new level and is particularly interesting as there's a number of local government agencies that are taking part. Users begin by setting their local area. Once the user has established which agency they wish to report to they then can use the app to geolocate and report an issue or concern (like a pothole or vandalism). The app is free, simple to use, and it does what it's supposed to do - best of all, it puts the citizens in touch with government so action can be taken quickly... a simple, yet functional app and a fine example of what others should be doing.

A number of interesting newsmakers have been busy this week rolling out new apps and services; the annual ESRI Dev Summit is coming up fast - Software developers from around the world will participate in the 2010 ESRI Developer Summit (DevSummit), to be held March 22-25, 2010, at the Palm Springs Convention Center in California; Nexus One from Google Coming to Sprint; Availability Date Announced Soon - great news for you Android OS fanatics; Are you a fan of Bing maps and Twitter? Here's a quick how-to spotlight showing you how to easily create and embed a Bing map showing Tweets. Details on these notices are below.

Finally, over on the blog (blog.gisuser.com) we've shared a few interesting tidbits for your enjoyment: Do you have a story to tell? Perhaps you have to make a short, 5 minute presentation. Check out the cool video on how to effectively put on an Ignite presentation; Do you dig location apps and the iPhone? Check out the fun Video Montage showing Social Location on the iPhone 3G S.
