and welcome to another almost end of summer GeoTech news roundup. Internet privacy... seems it's being discussed in all circles. But where do the boundaries lie when it comes to privacy and in particular with regards to your own family? I ask this in regards to a PR I received about a new mobile app designed for single parents - enter Teen Safe. TeenSafe provides parents the ability to see into their child's digital world by offering discrete and convenient access to all their mobile phone activities, including their current location, text messages, deleted text messages, web browsing history, and Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Kik activity. Hmmm... not sure about you but I'm pretty sure that if my teens knew I was using such a service they'd likely try to divorce themselves from me! You can read more about Teen Safe on our LBSzone
. Moving forward, you may have noticed the topic of UAVs and UAS technology making loads of news lately. If UAS technology interests you then take note of an interesting event from ASPRS coming up this fall in Reno, Nevada - The UAS Symposium
. The ASPRS UAS Symposium is a combination of Talks, Panels, Vendors, Poster Sessions and Live Demonstrations geared toward the GIS professional. There is no need to explain to you how UAV's/UAS's/Drones will alter the future landscape of Geospatial data gathering and modeling! Great stuff... honestly, I'd love to hit this timely event, what about you? Have a great week all and enjoy your labour day long week-end as we turn the page on the calendar very soon.

The event was planned by and run by opendata enthusiast and co-founder of CitizenBridge, Richard Pietro and brought together about 10 very knowledgeable speakers and enthusiasts to share their stories and advice..
