Our October issue is circulating, and a cool Trimble monitoring story is leading the Hit Parade.
A beautiful state-of-the-art New Zealand building has withstood repeated earthquakes by "floating," but liquefaction has caused the ground underneath to settle unevenly. Grout pumping and careful monitoring is fixing the problem.
Another cool application of our technology can be found in my editorial. Topcon RTK was used to set 18,000 points on the National Mall in DC to establish a giant face. If you check out the PDF of my editorial you can see the face in an oblique shot from the Washington Monument. Larry Trojak is writing the article about it for us and wait until you see the DigitalGlobe satellite shots!
Scroll down to see the rest of the new issue, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you've got a story you'd like to share. The new issue has something for everyone, from the only professional magazine dedicated to land surveying.
