Location-based Social Networking Conference Announces Keynote Speaker

WASHINGTON, DC, September 14, 2006 – Homeland Defense Journal and the executive steering committee today announced that C. Douglas Bass, Emergency Manager for Fairfax County, VA will provide the keynote address at the Location-based Social Networking (LoSoNet™) for Crisis Management Conference. LoSoNet 2006 (www.LoSoNet.org) will be held at the prestigious Sheraton National in Arlington, VA on Tuesday, October 3, 2006.
Mr. Bass leads Fairfax County’s efforts to prepare for, respond to and recover from significant emergencies that affect more than one million citizens just outside Washington, DC. He oversees the county’s emergency management program, county emergency operations center, domestic terrorism planning and grant programs as well as other emergency planning, training and exercise initiatives.
LoSoNet 2006 examines how to apply social networked approaches to homeland security and defense programs to enhance situational awareness and information sharing. The conference is the first forum to connect the world of social networking with location-based information to achieve situational awareness for defense and homeland security programs.
