Richmond, BC - The RADARSAT-2 information website www.radarsat2.info has a "new" look. Designed with a focus on easy navigation and populated with up-to-date and succinct information, the new website places information at just a click away.
Designed for current and future RADARSAT users, the website provides a resource of information on such topics as: RADARSAT-2 Applications (guidelines and case studies), Satellite Construction and Testing Status, Polarimetry, the Science and Operational Applications Research (SOAR) RADARSAT-2 Program, and Products and Services.
The website is a collaboration between MDA, the Canadian Space Agency and the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing. Look for new content as the site evolves over the coming months during the final preparations for RADARSAT-2!
Background Information on RADARSAT-2:
RADARSAT-2 is Canada's next-generation commercial C-band SAR satellite, the follow-on to RADARSAT-1, launched in 1995. The new satellite will be launched in March 2007 on a Soyuz vehicle from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. RADARSAT-2 offers unparalleled imaging flexibility, dual polarization and full polarimetric imaging options, high-resolution and a highly responsive programming and delivery ground segment.
RADARSAT-2 is a unique collaboration between government - the Canadian Space Agency, and industry - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (MDA). The Canadian Space Agency is contributing funds for the construction and launch of the satellite and will recoup its investment through the supply of RADARSAT-2 data to Canadian government agencies during the lifetime of the mission. MDA will own and operate the satellite and ground segment and has exclusive worldwide RADARSAT-2 data distribution rights.
