For us football fans, here's a cool application developed by a fan for fans... everything you could need for College Game Day... Want to tailgate the next Michigan home game? You'll find a map and instructions on what's taking place. Heck you can even check out the results of the 2006 NFL draft using this clever google mashup. View players drafted by university, by hometown, or by NFL team. Other clever ways to view data are by conference (ie. see all results of Big 10 draft) or maybe just look at the Defensive players taken in the draft... very nice!
The mapping app is just a small part of a larger site, developed initially to help people that get lost on game day! Dig deeper and for every College team you'll find maps and images (to help you find your way) as well as scores, draft information, related links, you can even see a map that shows you suggested hotels near the campus so you can easily check in on game day for those away games! Want even more info? See the map of a stadium (like Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, FL) and you'll also be presented with flickr photos that are scrapped from flickr... a nice touch. Need tickets? No worries... simply clikc to a page about your favorite team (example - Gators) and you'll not only have access to stats and information about the team but the application scraped eBay for tickets that are being auctioned off... awesome! This is an impressive result of what a fan can accomplish!
