Rockdale County Switches to MWH Soft Advanced Geospatial Technology for IDSE Compliance  E-mail
Written by MWH Soft
07 June 2006
H2OMAP Water Suite Advanced Modeling Technology Will Be the Cornerstone of a Comprehensive Water Quality Management Solution for Noted Georgia Utility

Broomfield, Colorado USA, June 6, 2006 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that Rockdale County, Georgia, has selected MWH Soft H2OMAP Water Suite software to supplant its existing network modeling solution. The County will leverage the suite's powers to meet the demanding schedule for the development of its full-scale water distribution hydraulic model for regulatory compliance. The move is yet another indication of MWH Soft's market-leading momentum in advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling solutions in North America.

Winner of two Gold Awards from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for outstanding utility operations, Rockdale County provides quality drinking water to a population of 74,000 via 597 miles of water mains. H2OMAP will replace the County's existing modeling system with a comprehensive, easy-to-use geospatial solution for developing a detailed, comprehensive, and well-calibrated dynamic model of the County's drinking water infrastructure. This model will be used to quickly and easily identify compliance monitoring sites, a critical capability in complying with Initial Distribution System Evaluation (IDSE) requirements under the USEPA Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (Stage 2 DBPR). IDSE is the methodology used to establish key monitoring locations that best reflect representative high Total Trihalomethane (TTHM) and Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) concentration levels in a water distribution system.

"We've standardized on H2OMAP Water because of its intuitive, user-friendly GIS interface; minimal training requirements; comprehensive hydraulic and water quality modeling capabilities; and enhanced database management and optimization functionality," said Pavel Vayner, PE, Principal Engineer for Rockdale County. "All of these advantages will help us meet the new challenges of the Stage 2 DBPR and optimize capital planning and system performance. The software's proven track record of fast, successful implementation and the company's outstanding reputation for exceptional technical support and customer care adds to the software's value."

Unlike competing products, H2OMAP's innovative new network modeling technology addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management and protection - delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Drawing on the world's most advanced numerical computation and object-component geospatial technologies, it effortlessly reads GIS datasets; corrects network topology problems and data flaws; extracts pertinent modeling information; and automatically constructs, skeletonizes, loads, calibrates and generates credible network models with astounding speed. Once calibrated models have been established, users can easily run and simulate various hydraulic and water age (water quality) scenarios, identify average residence time and high TTHM and HAA5 locations, and develop an optimal IDSE monitoring plan to achieve regulatory compliance.

"Our proven state-of-the-art geospatial modeling technology has become an indispensable tool for the utility industry, allowing users to get up to speed right away, be effective across the enterprise, and achieve high-quality results and maximum savings in record time," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "This gives them a competitive advantage that can't be beat. Seeing award-winning utilities like Rockdale County choose MWH Soft as their solution partner is the best possible confirmation of our software's value. We're very proud to know that our software applications are playing a critical role at many of the world's best-run utility companies of every size, helping them meet their corporate and strategic goals and achieve world-class performance at breakthrough savings."
