Cartographica Extraordinaire focuses on 120 maps and illustrates how historical maps can be used to understand modern issues by incorporating them into geographic information systems. The author, David Rumsey, stimates that his own collection contains more than 150,000 pieces and is generally limited to the New World of the 18th and 19th centuries.
