CensusTrax (Beta) Customizable On-line Web GIS Service uses Flash and Google Maps  E-mail

CensusTrax is the latest on-line interactive web GIS service to quickly retrieve, map and export US Census data. Developed using Open Source commercial spatial-relational databases, this slick application combines a Macromedia Flash-based Interface with customization enabled my the Google Maps API... best of all, CensusTrax will be available as a very inexpensive on-line subscription service in the near future. You mashup fans need to take a look at this one!

The application currently serves up Census data for San Francisco, CA, however, plans for a roll-out of more data are in the works. Not your typical mashup look and feel, CensusTrax centers on San Fran when you first load the application. USers can optionally toggle off data layers that include the popular Google thematic map or Aerial phography. Other data layers include Census Block groups, census tracts, and zip code boundaries.

About géoflash Explorer

géoflash Explorer is an innovative, server-driven interactive vector-based mapping system for the web. It combines a Macromedia Flash-based Interface with very powerful and highly scalable Open Source and commercial spatial-relational databases. The highly interactive and customizable Flash Interface brings web GIS into the realm of desktop mapping.

géoFlash Explorer's new CensusTrax framework seamlessly integrates Google Maps and the US Census, and thus provides a National Coverage as the starting point upon which to build a highly robust web GIS... this geospatial web-based application clearly raises the bar for developers using openly available tools and APIs and is a fine example of the use of such tools to develop a commercial application.
