Mashup Camp was a cozy little event that took place Feb 20-21 in Mountain View, California. Designed for developers and coders, "MC" the event featured open discussions about Mashup business models, the mashup community, APIs and API providers, and much more. A Mashup that got my attention was PodBop... winner of MashupCamp's best mashup award.
PodBop, developed by Taylor McKnight and Daniel Westermann-Clark of Gainsville, FL., launched in Mid Feruary, 2006 is a cool and innovative way to explore the music world. Select a city, discover MP3s, search for a band, go see them... way cool!
Here's the skinny, PodBop will enable users to create a PodBop feed, dump it into your iTunes or other podcasting app., and it will automatically download your city's MP3s to your desktop.
Methodology:
Events tagged with music are derived from the eventful database
MP3s are located by diggin into record label websites and places like Music Blogs
On a side note, several bloggers did a great job of posting updates from the event. For examples see Stephen O'grady's blog and Steve Gilmore's weblog.
