The Office of Coast Survey (OCS) produces nautical charts for United States waters. Most recently, the online resource now offers downloadable raster navigation charts (RNCs). Also of interest, particularly to those needing electronic charts along the Gulf Coast, is the Coast Disaster Impact Website. Users will find electronic charts served up via a very nifty map server, enabling quick and simple pan and zoom functionality.
Coast pilot data is served up by region, with numerous data tiles being offered up. Each region comes with a historical description, note about prominent physical features, channel descriptions, and comments about anchorage, obstacles, wharves, and harbor regulations. Clicking on the hyperlinked chart number brings up the electronic chart using the NOAA online viewer (powered by EyeSpy)

NOAA's Raster Navigational Charts (NOAA RNCs™) are produced by scanning at high resolution the original color separates, which are used to print the paper charts. NOAA adds to the digital raster file such features as data describing the chart, its datum, projection, and its geo-reference. Geo-referencing enables a computer-based navigation system that is connected to a GPS to locate and display on the chart image on screen the vessel's exact position.
