ESRI to Participate at DGI Europe 2006  E-mail
Written by ESRI
20 January 2006
Redlands, California - ESRI announces it is a participating sponsor in the Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) Europe 2006 conference taking place January 24-26 in London, England.

Organized by Worldwide Business Research, the conference features speakers who are international geospatial intelligence leaders from Europe's ministries of defence and other government agencies, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and the United States geospatial intelligence community.

ESRI will actively participate in the main conference sessions as well as in workshops and a preconference focus group. Jack Dangermond, president of ESRI, will present a speech entitled Commercial GIS Technology Enabling Government Geospatial Intelligence Systems: The (R)Evolutionary Implications of a GIS Services Architecture for Enterprise Information Systems. According to Dangermond, "Geospatial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in the national security of Europe and the United States; DGI Europe provides a venue where senior decision makers can explore the direction and role of this evolving and dynamic technology."

More than 400 delegates will attend presentations by military and industry leaders from NATO, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Norway, and Spain. Key topics include benchmarking geospatial intelligence impact on operations, multi-INT fusion, interoperability, Web services, and the role of geospatial intelligence to NEC/NCW.

"Quality presenters attract an exceptional audience of key decision makers in Europe, which provides an outstanding opportunity for networking at this conference," said David Swann, ESRI defence business development manager. A series of workshops also offers attendees unique insight into challenging and timely issues within the geospatial intelligence community, specifically enterprise GIS, Web services, and interoperability standards. Swann will present the Masterclass on enterprise GIS, which will propose solutions and demonstrate the power of a complete enterprise GIS platform.

In addition, a special preconference meeting on January 23 focuses on developing true forces interoperability to ensure effective implementation of geospatial intelligence for joint operations. Speakers from a dozen intelligence-related agencies will present case studies demonstrating the implementation of interoperable geospatial intelligence solutions using multiple technologies. Attendees will also have an opportunity to interact with presenters and delegates during an ESRI-sponsored luncheon. For more information, visit the conference Web site at www.wbr.co.uk/dgieurope.
