The City of Longview and the Gregg County Appraisal District celebrated GIS Day 2005 within the city’s library conference room.
A crowd of 125 people, including local dignitaries, emergency response personnel, various city and county employees, a handful of intrigued citizens, and a classroom of inquisitive youngsters, attended the festivities.
All attendees were greeted with a visually stunning display of wall-mounted maps (incorporating a past, present, and future theme) and four screens constantly projecting assorted GIS-related imagery including the city’s ArcIMS website and the Gregg Appraisal Parcel Finder application. A feast of tasty finger foods and beverages was served, as well. We are already eagerly anticipating next year’s planned events.
