The Bentley BE Careers Network sponsors and supports various student competitions to encourage growth and support of students education and interest in the AEC industry. This new empowerment program gives students practical, hands-on experience with professional AEC technology. Additional programs supported via the career network include the 2006 BE Awards of Excellence - Student Competition.
This new empowerment program gives students practical, hands-on experience with professional AEC technology – the same used by many of the Engineering News-Record Design 500 and major owner-operators to improve the world’s infrastructure. It does this by providing the academic community with three levels of licensing/subscription opportunity:
Individual student licensing – Middle-school and high-school students gain exposure to the basic www.becareers.org.
Department licensing – University departments can add to their curriculums a total of 45 commercial software programs in architecture, geospatial, plant design, and civil and environmental engineering by taking advantage of the program’s heavily discounted academic license subscriptions and training. The subscription for this software is based on a per seat cost and is provided at less than one percent of the commercial list price. The BE Careers Program department-level subscription includes free training for instructors, access to relevant course material, technical support, software updates, and free copies for students.
Campus licensing – The BE Careers Program also makes available campus-wide license subscriptions. This subscription level includes everything offered by department-level subscriptions and, in addition, extends licensing to an unlimited number of users.
Additional programs include the 2006 BE Awards of Excellence: Student Competition. Bentley hosts an annual BE Award Student Competition each May where students get the opportunity to present their projects in front of industry leaders from around the world, as well as the chance to earn a scholarship!
The BE Awards of Excellence honor extraordinary work of Bentley software users from around the world—including students from middle schools through advanced university programs.
The student competition recognizes the innovative and technically-advanced projects created by students who are using real-world professional software from Bentley, to advance their studies in civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, mapping and GIS, facilities management, structural engineering, transportation and more.
Categories: There are two categories for student awards including:
Middle/High School Entrants
University/Collegiate Entrants
Scholarship
Each winning student (or team) from the two categories will receive a $1,000 (USD) scholarship. Future City Competition
Bentley is a sponsor of the Future City Competition during National Engineers Week. Bentley encourages both students and professional users to get involved in this rewarding experience.
To date, more than 1,400 academic institutions have adopted the software offered through the BE Careers Program.
