The renewed GeoConnections program will be releasing a number of opportunities for project funding, beginning in the next few weeks and continuing over the coming months and years. Opportunities will be announced over time for all Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) stakeholders: end-users, content suppliers, technology developers, national information systems operators, and other new and potential users.
The first Announcement of Opportunity will be released shortly and is intended for the development of CGDI applications that support decision making within one or more of four key areas (sustainable development and the environment, Aboriginal issues, public health, and public safety). While other opportunities will be released over time, based on a CGDI user-needs assessment that is currently underway, this initial "fast-track" opportunity will engage end-users who are ready to apply for co-funded projects now. Although geomatics companies cannot apply directly, they may partner with end-user applicant organizations.
Information, on what opportunities are coming up in the near future and approximately when they will be released, will be posted before long on the GeoConnections opportunities page.
