The VCGI is a fine GIS user resource for GIS data, information, and activities in the State of Vermont. VCGI is a public non-profit chartered by the State of Vermont to assist the Vermont GIS Community. The storage and provision of free digital geographic data created by members of the VT GIS community are two of the most important tasks that VCGI performs. Anyone can visit the VCGI web site to download this GIS data.
Some Important Roles of the VCGI:
Develops data standards, guidelines, and procedures
Develops and assists in the development of essential statewide databases
Develops and hosts interactive map applications to increase the public's access to information
Performs outreach and training to current and potential GIS users
Supports the VT Spatial Data Partnership (an informal membership organization)
Data and resource available to users of the portal include technical resources (papers, FAQs, standards, guidelines, links, and tools), Data Warehouse (pictured below), community resources (listserve, job listings, newsltter, grants and RFPs, and a consultant's list). The Map Center provides numerous static and interactive maps as well as an online digital atlas of Vermont.

Access data at http://www.vcgi.org/dataware/. Data can be selected by theme or keyword. Data layers include: Climate, cadastral, elevation, geodetic control, agruculture, transportation, utilities, and much more. Regional and local data layers are also available, themed by county or town.
