ESRI and MRO Software Announce Business Relationship for Enhanced Work and Asset Management  E-mail
Written by ESRI
19 July 2005
Redlands, California—ESRI, the worldwide leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, today announced a newly formed business relationship with MRO Software, leading provider of strategic asset and service management solutions.

This partnership will result in a first-of-its-kind embedding of ArcGIS components into MRO Software’s Maximo Enterprise Suite (MXES), providing users with a geographic framework for improved decision support and work planning.

Organizations with geographically dispersed assets, including utilities, water/wastewater, government, and defense, will benefit from a spatially enabled MXES. Leveraging open standards-based Java development environments from both companies, MRO Software is incorporating ESRI’s ArcGIS components into Maximo’s J2EE technology framework, creating a user interface that supports robust interactions between the work and asset management and the GIS from a single application environment.

“This collaboration between ESRI and MRO Software represents another important step in the geospatial enablement of the enterprise” says David Wieseler, ESRI Director, Strategic Partnerships. “MRO Software and ESRI share a development architecture that enables the seamless integration of our respective technologies. Together, our companies share a significant number of customers who have expressed a desire to leverage this new technology to further enhance productivity and extend the life of revenue-generating assets. We are pleased to have MRO Software join our select group of enterprise-level solution partners.”

Rick Nicholson, vice president at Energy Insights, an IDC company, says, “Our research shows that business drivers such as regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, aging assets, and an aging workforce are driving energy and utility companies to focus on work and asset management.  Since these companies have traditionally used both enterprise asset management and geographic information system technologies to manage their assets, the ability to seamlessly integrate these two environments will provide additional business value.”

“Many of our key clients and the market in general have told us of the importance of integrating Maximo with GIS,” says Patricia C. Foye, executive vice president of global marketing and alliances at MRO Software. “Many have built their own integration or used third-party vendors to provide a solution, but clients want integration provided by MRO Software using native ESRI components. The fact that MRO Software and ESRI are working together has sparked a great deal of interest internally within our respective companies as well as within our respective client bases.”

Additional information on MRO Software can be found at www.mro.com.
