Agreement Provides Pre-negotiated Pricing on Bentley Products to 13 Federal Agencies including US Army Corps of Engineers and Military
(GISuser Press Release) Exton, PA – February 18, 2004 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, today announced the CADD/GIS Technology Center has signed a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with Bentley estimated at $25 million.
Through the BPA contract, partnering agencies of the CADD/GIS Technology Center (the Center) may purchase software, training, and professional services from Bentley at pre-negotiated prices. The Center’s 13 partnering agencies include all U.S. military branches, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, FBI, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, USGS, and the General Services Administration.
The Center values the Bentley BPA at $5 million per year for the next five years. A maximum of $30 million in purchases is permitted throughout the term of the agreement.
Already, some of the Center’s Federal partners rely on MicroStation®, Bentley ProjectWise®, and related products for building, civil, and geospatial solutions. MicroStation is the company’s flagship desktop product, and Bentley ProjectWise is Bentley’s collaboration server that supports a managed environment for AEC information.
All told, the Center’s membership can leverage this agreement to update and expand their Bentley installation, training, and services most efficiently and cost effectively. The Federal Aviation Administration, which participates in the Center’s activities, plans to extend its relationship with the Center and is considering the Bentley BPA to meet its existing needs.
“This agreement gives our agency the opportunity to capitalize on the diligent work of the Center and save our staff a repetitive process of solicitation and procurement,” said Steven Kalabokes, acting team leader of the FAA’s Technical Graphics and Configuration Management Team.
“Because the BPA provides ‘best value’ pricing, Federal agencies can eliminate many of the redundant administrative costs within the Federal solicitation and procurement process,” said Harold Smith, Chief of the CADD/GIS Technology Center. Partnering agencies of the CADD/GIS Technology Center may purchase Bentley products and services immediately under this contract. New agencies may gain access to the Center’s “best value” pricing by joining the Center as a partnering agency.
This agreement also offers the options and benefits of the Federal Portfolio, Bentley’s subscription program tailored specifically for Federal users.
Bentley products uniquely support the IT standards of Federal agencies. For example, Bentley’s DGN file format is employed by some agencies for collaborating on AEC information, while Adobe PDF is the preferred method of sharing information securely. Recently, Adobe and Bentley announced the two companies are working together to optimize PDF for AEC document workflows. Bentley will also offer Adobe PDF creation from within Bentley technology.
