Redlands, California-More than 1,000 federal geographic information system (GIS) users will convene February 1-3, 2005, at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center for the 2005 ESRI Federal User Conference (FedUC).
The three-day event, which is free for federal employees, will highlight ESRI's latest software releases, discuss the future direction of ESRI technologies, and feature numerous federal applications of ESRI software.
"GIS technology is a fundamental tool that enables government agencies to share knowledge and information within their own departments as well as among each other," says Jack Dangermond, ESRI president. "The ESRI Federal User Conference provides a forum for industry professionals to learn about the newest advancements with GIS and network with other agencies about the goals and initiatives of the federal community." Conference attendees will have access to the latest information on ArcGIS 9 and its new functionality, hear and see the benefits of using GIS in day-to-day operations, learn how GIS is used in reaching compliance with a number of federal mandates, and have the opportunity to network with ESRI's large federal user base. Through paper sessions and panel discussions, attendees will share their knowledge, experience, and how they use GIS to solve a variety of real-world issues. Technical workshops will focus on using and extending ESRI software tools and provide an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to learn new techniques.
The FedUC will feature specific presentations and technical sessions geared toward the defense and military industry, including GIS for the Intelligence Community, Defense Command and Control, and Facility and Environmental Management tracks.
A GIS Solutions EXPO will display integrated GIS services, ESRI software-based applications for the federal community, software application tools, consulting services, and data in ESRI software-compatible formats from ESRI and its business partners. Breakout sessions will encompass a wide range of topics including the following:
