INGISI - Indiana GIS provides the backbone that enables visitors to search for data and maps through the Data Clearinghouse. Additionally, a vast amount of GIS data and related information is accessible via this fine portal. Locate a professional using the Rolodex, access numerous State Webmapping resources, find educational information. Most recent, Indiana is taking a bold step forward this year with a new 2005 Statewide Digital Orthophotography Program. The new program will create high-resolution orthophotography for counties on a statewide basis to support homeland security, emergency management, and other business and government applications.

Some Noteworthy features and accomplishments of INGISI:

Data - Use the Data Clearinghouse to discover and obtain live data and maps, downloadable data, map services, and more!

Available data products include:
Statewide hypsography 1:24,000 5’ and 10’ contours
Statewide Public Land Survey System
FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps
NAIP 2003 1-meter Orthophotography
Statewide 1:12,000 System 1, 2, 3 DOT Roads
170 Statewide GIS Layers of framework and non-framework data
In March and April of 2005, the entire State of Indiana will be flown for high quality color orthophotography

status MAps - The GIS Status Maps provide an interactive view of local GIS activity and Indiana framework data.

Web Maps - The IN-Focus Map Projects provide links to on-line interactive mapping around the state.

IndianaMap encompasses a number of aspects:
1)     integration now of the best available data, focusing on local sources, with state and federal,

2)     a distribution mechanism that provides access to data (i.e., data clearinghouse)

3)     a viewer with tiered access for decision-makers and the public with non-technical interface to viewing geospatial information,

4)     planning for 100% coverage of all 7 framework layers (e.g. the base map), within 3-5 years, and

5)     education and outreach on the relevancy, importance and capabilities offered by the IndianaMap.

EDU - All Indiana schools are encouraged to join the Huck Finn Project - a fun adventure in exploring our world through art and geography.  http://www.in.gov/ingisi/huckfinn/

This simple map - http://www.state.in.us/ingisi/benefits/index.html - provides a layman's demonstration of GIS along with links to "What is GIS" and the "Benefits of GIS".
