Electric Cooperative uses Designer to improve workflow and integrate operations
Fort Collins, CO -- The City of Concord, serving 26,000 customers in North Carolina, went into production with Miner & Miner’s Designer product in August of this year. The project, led by Advantica, began in February and was completed within six months.
The City of Concord has used ArcFM for facility information management in the Electrical Engineering Department for the last five years. After the migration to ArcFM 8 in 1999, which enabled them to use industry standard data models, the utility began searching for design and work management systems that could integrate with their existing GIS. By selecting Designer, the City was able to integrate existing business workflow and manage projects from inception and design to as-builting and production. Miner & Miner wrote a customized cost engine within Designer, which allows the City to calculate the itemized and total cost of labor, materials, and equipment related to compatible units. Both the Electrical Engineering and Electrical Construction group utilize the application for streamlining operations including scheduling jobs and assigning crews.
The City intends to begin integration to Azteca’s Cityworks, a work management system employed by the rest of the departments within the organization, in the next few months.
“Miner & Miner is a professional organization whose project managers and product developers work to create an efficient and productive work process. Using the Designer application allows us to enjoy the full functionality of a design product while updating our processes,” said Jamie Martinez, GIS Manager for the City of Concord.
