Colorado is definitely a hotbed for GIS and geospatial technologies. The State is home to numerous consulting firms and some of the country's most advanced and progressive State mapping agencies. We highlight several fine resources in this spotlight including a resource where you can easily access and download all the State's DRG for free.
To start the list, The Colorado Geospatial Data Clearinghouse (CGDC) is a spatial data clearinghouse in the Department of Geography at the University of Colorado-Boulder providing access to geographic data. The portal at http://www.covl.org/sagis/ provides a gateway to several State GIS resources and departments
The Colorado division of water resources has made available the State's DRG data (UTM Zone 13, NAD83) See http://www.water.state.co.us/pubs/drg.asp Also available from this resource are boudary files for rivers, lakes, district boundaries, and more. There's also an online mapper available at http://165.127.86.125/website/lttools/
Contact: Colorado Division of Water Resources 1313 Sherman St., Rm. 818 Denver, CO 80203
Another fine Colorado based resource is the State's Biological Map & Data Resource (http://ndis.nrel.colostate.edu/index.html). This NDIS website provides mapping, data, information, and links to similar websites concerning hunting, fishing, wildlife, habitat, and conservation planning issues in Colorado. Not to be missed is the NDIS MapIt webmapping app (pictured below)
