Washington URISA opens registration for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference E-mail

The Washington State Chapter of the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (WAURISA) is pleased to announce that conference registration is open for the 16th annual Washington GIS Conference in Lynnwood, WA to be held May 6 - 8, 2013 at the Lynnwood Convention Center! This year’s conference theme is the Power of Place. Take advantage of the early-bird rate by Monday, April 1, 2013. This year’s Conference hotel is the Embassy Suites – Seattle – North/Lynnwood.

 

WAURISA is currently accepting presentation proposals for the 2013 Washington GIS Conference. The deadline to submit an online abstract is Monday, March 18, 2013. All lead presenters will receive a $60 discount from the 2-day or 3-day conference registration.

 

Vendors: Share your information with conference attendees! There are still several exhibitor opportunities available. All vendor exhibitor details can be found on the WAURISA website.

Students: The Dick Thomas Award Committee is now accepting entries for the 7th annual Richard ‘Dick’ Thomas Memorial Student Presentation Competition and Award. Visit the submission page to enter. Entries are due Monday, April 1, 2013. More information on the Competition is on the Conference webpage.

After the vendor reception, make plans to join other Conference attendees from 6pm till 10pm at nearby Big E Ales brew pub for games, prizes, food, and friends at the Tuesday Evening Social!

 

Volunteers: Many hands make for light work. WAURISA is looking volunteers to be a part of the Conference planning process. Please visit the Conference webpage to learn more about volunteering at the Conference.

The Washington State Chapter of URISA (WAURISA) exists for the purpose of recognizing, supporting and encouraging professional growth through continuing education, communication, technical development and service to its members and others in the field of geospatial and information technologies. It is a non-profit association of GIS professionals using geospatial technology to solve problems in state, regional and local government. Washington URISA is also the premier organization for the use and integration of geospatial information technology to improve the quality of life in urban and regional environments. Our members are from many disciplines and are dedicated to advancing the effective application of GIS technology in decision making and streamlining government operations and services. Other areas in which our members use this technology for problem solving include planning, transportation, public works, the environment, emergency services and utilities.
