Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) Announces Winter Symposium E-mail
Written by PRIA
12 February 2013

Morrisville, N.C. – The Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) will host its 2013 Winter Symposium at the Washington Marriott in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 26 – March 1. The conference and educational programs follow the theme “Going Green in 13” and are designed to help attendees consider new and different ways of addressing issues affecting the property records industry.

PRIA is pleased to announce the upcoming speakers for the 2013 Winter Symposium. Margo Tank, a partner, and David Whitaker, counsel of BuckleySandler LLP, will present “eSign and eVerything  ‘e’”  on Feb. 27. Tank advises financial services providers and technology companies on how to structure business programs and online platforms in compliance with federal and state regulations. She was named a “2009 Mortgage Banking Technology All-Star” by Mortgage Banking Magazine.  Whitaker, formerly with Wells Fargo Bank., N.A., assists firms in their efforts to structure and implement platforms and processes that conform to the requirements of the ESIGN and UETA.

PRIA also welcomes Dr. Cliff Rossi, an Executive-in-Residence and Tyser Teaching Fellow at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Dr. Rossi has nearly 25 years of experience in various aspects of banking and government, including his most recent position as Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Citigroup’s Consumer Lending Group. Dr. Rossi will lead a session on Feb. 28 about the National Mortgage Database.

Harry Gardner, chair of the MISMO Residential Governance Committee, will present a session on eMortgage on Feb. 28. Gardner is the president of SigniaDocs, a PRIA members and  national eMortgage solutions provider that supports legally compliant electronic mortgage documents for all 50 states at the investor, federal, state and local levels.

The overall conference program includes a full variety of educational workshops on various topics. In “Title Plants 101” attendees will learn about what a Title Plant is and how it may affect their office.  “Title Plants 101” is a follow-up to the “Title 101” session held at the 2012 PRIA Annual Conference in Memphis, Tenn., in Aug. 28-30, 2012.

The hot topic of eRecording will be addressed in multiple sessions throughout the conference, including two concurrent sessions, “Getting eRecording off the Ground” and “How To

Increase the Volume of Documents Being eRecorded.” Mark Ladd, Simplifile, LLC, and Karl Trottnow, First American Mortgage Services, will facilitate a discussion about “eRecording from the Submitters' Perspective.” A PRIA attendee favorite session, the Town Hall discussion, will also address eRecording through the topic “eRecording – The Ultimate Wish List.”
PRIA committees and work groups also will have several opportunities for working sessions during the conference. Attendees are encouraged to sit in on these meetings to learn more about what’s happening in PRIA or to find out more information about volunteering. Also, attendees can expect facilitated discussions throughout the conference regarding the future of the property records industry.

Registration materials and hotel reservation access can be found on the PRIA website.  For questions, contact the PRIA offices at 919.459.2081 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
