About

Open source applications are changing GIS, cartography, web mapping, and map publishing, creating a powerful infrastructure for new tools that has thrown open the door of what's possible in geo. This one day conference will introduce you to these tools, show you what you can do with them, and walk through how and why government agencies are using them to dramatically improve their mapping, cartography, and GIS projects

Tracks

The two track conference will feature a series of case studies of successful open source implementations; high level discussions around topics like getting open source into federal agencies, using geospatial data in policy decisions, and open data; and technology showcases walking through how specific technologies can be used, what they do, and how to get started using them.

Speakers include (not finalized ):

    Mike Byrne, FCC
Josh Campbell, U.S. Department of State
    Liz Barry, Public Labs
    Alex Barth, MapBox
    Ben Tuttle, NGA
    Erek Dyskant, Democratic National Committee
    Eddie Pickle, OpenGeo
    Chris Tucker, MapStory
