You can use regression analysis to model, examine, and explore spatial relationships and help explain the factors behind the spatial patterns you observe. Two regression analysis tools, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) Regression and Geographically Weighted Regression, let you conduct regression analysis in ArcGIS.
Used in many application areas, such as business, defense, education, health and human services, natural resources, and public safety, regression analysis ultimately helps answer why questions. It provides clues to the factors that contribute to a particular spatial outcome: Why is there so much crime or disease in particular areas? What are the factors that contribute to consistently high test scores? Why is a species thriving only in certain locations?
Regression analysis can also predict spatial outcomes for different places and time periods to help answer questions such as, How will improvements to road conditions impact traffic fatalities? and How will projected population growth affect the demand for services?
After viewing this seminar, you will understand how to do the following:
·Use regression analysis tools to explore data and spatial data relationships
·Build a properly specified regression model
·Interpret regression model results and diagnostics
·Use regression analysis results to design targeted remediation
Geographic information system (GIS) analysts will find this seminar extremely useful. If you are unfamiliar with this topic, read Regression Analysis Basics at Esri ArcGIS Resources.
Attendees will need a broadband Internet connection and an Esri Global Account to watch the live training seminar. Creating an Esri Global Account is easy and free: visit esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address.
