Ordnance Survey’s graduate recruitment scheme launches E-mail
Written by Ordnance Survey
30 January 2013

Ordnance Survey is running a graduate recruitment scheme for the second year, looking for a new generation to lead the way on developing innovative technologies for digital data.

Great Britain’s national mapping agency collects, maintains and distributes the most accurate and up-to-date geographic information (GI) of the whole country. Ordnance Survey is recruiting a handful of specialist graduates to meet the rising demand for their digital data, that is relied upon by government, business and individuals.
Their database holds the master map of the country with 450 million features and Ordnance Survey provides products and services to meet customers' needs, from supporting emergency services with vital road and land information, to enabling local authorities to plan optimum routes for gritting during severe weather. They are always looking for new and innovative uses for their data, Ordnance Survey recently launched OS MapFinder, an iOS app designed for outdoor leisure users, and also provided highly detailed mapping for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Their new recruitment scheme has roles available for graduates interested in working with geospatial data, who understand data modeling, or are skilled in software development and coding.
Ordnance Survey’s Head of Human Resources, Nadine Prior, explains: “Great Britain’s landscape is changing continuously and demand for high quality, accurate, mapping data has exploded to meet the demands of a mobile, 24/7 world. We need multi-skilled graduates with a sense of curiosity, and a passion for making a measurable difference to the lives of people.
Working at the organisation’s Southampton head office, the recruits will undergo a two-week induction and structured learning path before moving into their new roles. Salaries start at £22,000, with the potential to rise to £24,500 in three years. To apply for a role graduates should visit the Facebook app on the Ordnance Survey careers page.
