Web Based Permitting - Marshall County, IN PDF Print E-mail
GIS News - Local Government GIS
Written by The Schneider Corporation
04 December 2012

Marshall County has launched a web based permitting solution that will save users time while increasing government transparency and efficiency. Making the service available in a 24/7 online environment allows citizens and businesses to use it at their convenience. Schneider’s online, automated permit management solution dramatically reduces the time it takes to generate permits and will streamline the entire permitting process for Marshall County, IN.

Marshall County partnered with The Schneider Corporation to implement their innovative, e-government Permitting solution. Designed to eliminate many of the challenges that face local governments, Permitting streamlines workflows, reduces or eliminates the need for office visits, and improves customer satisfaction. Schneider’s Permitting solution is a sophisticated workflow manager that automates the process as a permit moves along to various local government departments and individuals. Communication throughout a permit’s lifecycle is a critical component and a system of alerts and email notifications to all relevant offices, as well as the applicant, ensures a smooth and seamless process. The new permitting system also integrates with Beacon™ and provides additional benefits of tight system integration with the existing property ownership and tax records, including auto-fill and auto-lookup of properties and web-based map sketching.

The initial rollout includes contractor registration, food service permits, and driveway permits. Future releases will include building permits, septic permits, complaints and variances.

Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Indianapolis, The Schneider Corporation is a full-service GIS firm serving a range of clients throughout the Midwest and across the country. The Schneider Corporation applies professional expertise and sophisticated technology in the areas of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Software Development and Web based technology to collect, create, and manage vital information for clients in both the private and public sectors.
