CloverPoint has launched the beta release of MapSocial, the first Web 3.0 mapping framework to include real-time collaborative editing within Facebook’s 900 Million users. With this release, MapSocial has revolutionized the mapping industry forever and made CloverPoint the largest truly interactive mapping company in the world. When asked why he was keen to undertake this project, Jeff Warwick, CloverPoint’s CEO and long-time mapping evangelist stated, “We wanted the power of mapping in the hands of the users.”
MapSocial brings powerful groupware functionality - similar to Google Apps, SharePoint and WebEx- into an interactive spatial framework, all within the largest social network. MapSocial builds on Web 2.0’s participatory technologies and social capabilities by adding layers of geo-referenced information, like Foursquare check-in points, into standalone and mobile platforms to create a convergence of the virtual and physical worlds (Web 3.0).
“We are incredibly excited to release the MapSocial beta. It solidifies CloverPoint’s position as pioneer in the new Web, and the initial response to MapSocial has been extraordinarily positive. We are seeing MapSocial used collaboratively for infographics, photography and general exploring. We are excited to evolve MapSocial into a much more extensive platform, with increased support for environmental management, such as oil spills, further augmented reality development, and the creation of a new ecosystem for spatially driven games,” says Karl Swannie, CloverPoint CTO.
CloverPoint is an international leader in 2D&3D spatial software development and information technology consulting. CloverPoint is focused on creating a new perception of the web, which includes software like MapSocial and other convergent real world based technologies, to meet societies present and future needs.
