June 14, 2012- The City of Nanaimo is collecting information for a Cultural Resources Inventory and Cultural Mapping project. A Cultural Resources Inventory and Map are tools to identify and map community cultural assets and resources. The project will serve as the groundwork for a new cultural plan that will identify needs and opportunities for investing in future cultural development.
The database of resources developed will form the basis of an online cultural portal that will provide the public access to information about all of Nanaimo’s cultural assets and resources. Once the Cultural Portal is online participants will be able to update their own information.
Groups that will be including in the inventory include; Cultural Organizations, Cultural Facilities/Venues, Festivals & Events, Creative Cultural Industries, Cultural Heritage, Natural Heritage and Artists.
If you would like to be included in the cultural inventory, please complete the survey here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/
