AirSage™ has joined an esteemed list of international brands that are partnering with the Division of Professional Practice (DoPP) at Georgia Institute of Technology to offer educational and career opportunities through the university’s internship program. AirSage—the nation’s largest provider of population location and mobility data—partnered with the co-operative educational program of Georgia Tech in March and has already earned the attention of seven of the tech-sector’s most promising young minds.
Through Tech’s DoPP program, AirSage now competes for talent against some of the world’s most-recognized companies, including BMW, Coca-Cola, Delta, General Electric, Home Depot, Johnson & Johnson, NASA, Siemens and more.
“Georgia Tech’s reputation as an incubator of top-tier students who aspire to be on the leading edge of innovative technology solutions is a great fit for AirSage,” said Greg Swayne, AirSage Chairman and President. “The DoPP program gives AirSage an opportunity to attract gifted students and provide them with real-world work experience in an environment that values fresh, out-of-the-box thinking. Not only are we impressed with the talent we’ve seen, we are honored to be pursued by these talented students.”
U.S. News and World Report ranks Georgia Tech at #36 in national universities, with the majority of AirSage’s new interns coming from the university’s computer science program, ranked at #10. AirSage has also added interns from Georgia Tech’s marketing and business administration programs as well as the discrete mathematics and combinatorics program, ranked at #8.
Caleb Reach—a graduate student who earned his undergraduate degree in computer science—is developing intellectual property for AirSage’s core products: FastCache, Origin-Destination and Traffic Flow.
“Over the past five years, mobile and wireless technologies have changed our world more than any other advancement,” said Reach. “AirSage is a pioneer in capturing, understanding and using the largely un-tapped mobility data and turning it into information that can be used to develop everything from roadways to marketing plans. For me, the opportunity to be part of a pioneering team—to have some influence over how the next iteration of technology is developed and used—made AirSage an easy and exciting choice for an internship!”
The launch of AirSage’s internship program coincides with corporate expansion in other areas. Since January, AirSage has hired 13 full-time employees and plans to hire 10 more over the next six months. Openings for Python developers, QA analysts, web services developers, product managers and program/project managers are posted online at www.airsage.com/Careers/. In April, in anticipation of this growth, AirSage relocated to increase space by 125 percent. The new Atlanta Midtown location will accommodate the growing AirSage team and client roster. And, it is within walking distance of Georgia Tech.
