This month Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) will offer two free web demonstrations: Global Mapper, in a joint presentation with Intermap, and the Blue Marble Desktop highlighting working with local coordinate systems. See the details and sign up for each session below:
Global Mapper with Intermap Technologies- Advanced Terrain Analysis with NEXTMap Data
This 60 minute session will expand on the terrain mapping session from last month, with special guests from Intermap Technologies. We will explore some advanced terrain analysis features using new high precision elevation datasets from the NEXTMap Web Store 2.0. Join us in exploring real world scenarios, by examining placing models into your map or creating your own from scratch, and then viewing and analyzing the data using the 3D viewer.
Blue Marble Desktop - Working with Local Coordinate Systems
Local survey coordinates or mining grids are very commonly used all over the globe. Unfortunately, they don't always get along well with mapping systems that expect coordinates to be in a projected coordinate system or a Latitude/Longitude reference. Blue Marble Desktop version 2.4 has a variety of tools for coping with the challenges of these types of data. In this month's session on Blue Marble Desktop 2.4, we will cover working with data in local systems and transforming them to Projected or Lat/Long systems for easy use in GIS or CAD environments, featuring tools such as the Best-Fit calculation for survey control data and the Georeferencer.
