BIMStorm Show and Tell: New Extended Format for Ecobuild America 2012 E-mail
GIS News - Business
Written by BIMStorm
16 May 2012
BIMStorm is back at Ecobuild ® America, Washington, D.C., December 3-7, 2012.

Centerville, MA  May 16, 2012 - New this year, as part of the core conference program, BIMStorm will offer a full 3-day track of 90-minute sessions covering applications for: Healthcare; Facilities Management; Education; Geospatial Planning; Open Standards, Web Services and Model Servers; COBie; Energy, Automation and Controls; and more. On the expo floor in the BIMStorm Theater, an additional 16 short courses (free to all attendees) will showcase the latest technology advancements, new products and services that make it all happen. Also new this year and surrounding the Theater is the BIMStorm Expo where software developers, technology evangelists and AEC firms can showcase their solutions to help attendees better understand this process and actively engage in owner driven scenarios for managing new projects and existing portfolios of facilities and infrastructure. Ecobuild ® America is sponsored and produced by AEC Science & Technology®.

For five years running BIMStorm has taken center stage at Ecobuild. Its fresh, evolving format presents AEC professionals with a dynamic, interactive, and fun learning environment. The result? Attendees rewarded with fresh insights into BIM’s power to move the industry forward as the host platform for a new generation of collaboration.

BIMStorm’s hands-on format engendered words of praise from 2011 Ecobuild attendees. A senior facilities service manager searching for solutions for the implementation of BIM said, “BIMStorm is really the perfect opportunity to work with Kimon and other companies to figure out what tools are out there, how to make data work best and how to take advantage of improving our facilities management lifecycle with BIM data. We need to find out where the hand off of data should occur. What data should be given and how best do we use that date with engineers or facility managers. We have a ton of questions. BIMStorm is really helping us to find the answer to the question, which direction do we go? What tools are out there to bring the data to life? How are we going to take advantage of the data?”

Another senior manager of technology and process development called BIMStorm “a great sand box” to try out new tools with diverse audiences.

A technical accounts manager applauded the hands-on and fun environment of his first BIMStorm as well as the opportunity to “take our company’s product, meld it with different technologies and put them to work collaboratively.”

“BIMStorm is about less talk and more action,” says Kimon Onuma, FAIA, of Onuma, Inc. “It is about finding solutions and leveraging new tools. We know that interoperatibility works. We need to get to it and make it work.”

BIMStorm Show and Tell™@ Ecobuild 2012 is chock full of opportunities for attendees to connect, share, tell, learn and grow their BIM experiences with other AEC professionals, project owners and software developers.
