In this edition of the Amerisurv webinar series, we'll cover key areas of interest to land surveyors, planners, GIS and mapping professionals.

GCS "Geospatial Big Data" Webinar Series - GCS has announced a new webinar series focused on developing solutions to the challenges of Geospatial Big Data by leveraging the fusion of location analytics, mobile platforms and cloud technologies. QCoherent Announces New Features and Software Release Strategy E-mail
    GIS News - Business
    Written by QCoherent Software LLC
    17 March 2012

Huntsville, AL – QCoherent Software LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of GeoCue Corporation, is shifting to a new strategy for releasing updates to its flagship product, LP360 for ArcGIS®.

Customers who own LP360 version 2011.1 or later and are on current maintenance will be able to receive updates via the "Check for LP360 Updates" function built in to all versions of the LP360 product (LP360 for ArcGIS®, LP360 and LP360 x64).   QCoherent will be making "experimental" features of the product available on a very frequent basis (perhaps several times per month) and "baseline" versions on an approximate 2 month schedule.

QCoherent announced several new features in the latest Experimental release including:

    ·         Derive Model Key Points.  This new automatic Point Cloud Task extracts a reduced point count surface based on user specified accuracy criteria.  It is most often used to intelligently thin the ground class for use by products that cannot ingest high density point clouds.  The Model Key Points function is available in the Advanced level of LP360.

    ·         Filtering points for display and classification by user set laser intensity bands.  For example," classify points in the Ground class that fall into intensity band 0 to 40 to the Road class."  This feature is available in all levels of LP360 (Basic, Standard, Advanced).

    ·         Filter points by point flags (Synthetic, Withheld, Overlap, Model Key Point).  This feature is available in all levels of LP360.

Nancy Graham, Business Development Manager for QCoherent, announced the new features and delivery process at the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) annual conference in Sacramento.   "The direct use of LIDAR point cloud data by consumers is growing at a nearly exponential rate.  Our customers are finding new ways to exploit these data and are asking for rapid response from us in delivering new features in LP360 to address their needs.  Our new Experimental features updates, all via the web, will allow users very early access to the tools that we are experimenting with in the development lab.  This will allow our customers to recognize maximum value from their LIDAR data and to provide us very quick feedback as to the utility of new tools."

The features introduced at the ASPRS conference will be available in the next Experimental release of LP360.

QCoherent Software LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of GeoCue® Corporation. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, QCoherent Software is the creator of the LP360 product suite and LIDAR Server.
