Developers in Regina, Saskatchewan are invited to HackSask this week-end - an effort to hack, mashup, and mess around with APIs, tools, SDKs and other Geeky resources!
There's no question that Canada has really taken off as a hot spot for opengov and citizen participation, in particular by using hackdays and hackfests as a venue for collaboration and innovation.
This week-end in Regina, Sask. HackRegina will be taking place. Just today the organizers have announced a list of APIs that will be available for hack artists to take advantage of. Additionally, the city of Regina has also made available a number of open data products to developers.
Some of the APIs available include:
iQmetrix Software’s XQ API - provides endpoints for managing and accessing content and analytics
GB Internet Solutions’ GasBuddy API - The GasBuddy API will allow you to search local gas prices by geo location, city, zip code or postal code.
Yellow Pages Group’s YellowAPI - FreshBooks API allows 3rd party developers to expand and build on the FreshBooks platform. Access FreshBooks account data using HTTP and XML to create web and desktop applications that integrate with a FreshBooks account
Shopify API lets you organize your products, customize your storefront, accept credit card payments through payment gateways, track and respond to orders and more
City of Regina’s Open Data API - The City’s data sets will provide location and descriptive information for the City of Regina’s geographic features, recreation, schools, roads, landuse, political and community boundaries. The data sets will be available for download in various formats for use as tabular or spatial information
About the event - HackREGINA is an incredible opportunity to connect with the best and brightest developers in Regina. Previous HackDays hackathons have seen the launch of new applications built with the APIs provided, developers finding new homes for their careers as well as the beginning of new startups. We are interested in working with you to build a bigger, stronger developer community in Regina, and we're open to other creative ideas
