Some news for developers interested in meeting other Esri developers or perhaps looking for a stage where they can present a lightning talk to other GeoGeek in their local tech community. The Esri EDN group has announced a busy 2012 season for the popular DevMeetUp events starting this week (Feb 16 in Anchorage Alaska) and going on the road around the country for the entire year, ending up with a Bang with their “flagship” MeetUp in November – I say this because the FOCO DevMeetUps in the past have been very popular – yes, by coincidence yours truly was involved in the planning of last year’s DevMeetUp in Fort Collins ;0)
DevMeetups all have a familiar format that runs from about 5:30 – 8 PM at night so you can get there after office hours. They typically start off with a bit of socializing, a couple of key presentations running about 20 minutes each, then a round of 5 minute lightning talks and/or an open mike opportunity. The event ends with more socializing and maybe a beer! Info about DevMeetups can always be found on Twitter by following the hashtag #DevMeetup
Recall, From DevMeetUp Fort Collins 2011... Another fine Esri sponsored DevMeetup event in Fort Collins, Colorado as about 100 GeoGeeks met up at the Rio Agave Room to hear about html5, mobile app development and other goodies as key developer presenters and several lightning talk presenters delivered… great stuff!
Below is a video of a presentation delivered by Rich Ruh of Telvent, enjoy Rich as he talks about mobile app dev for the Geo Developer – you can follow #devmeetup on Twitter and Rich via @RichRuh
