16 February 2012

A busy week in Redlands as a few interesting updates have come out of the campus. Noteworthy updates have localized options for users of ArcGIS.com and ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight 1.0 and ArcGIS for Sharepoint have been released.

ciao, Bonjour, Guten Tag, Olá, Hola to Esri ArcGIS Online in 9 More Languages

Cool news from the campus in Redlands CA today as Esri has announced that ArcGIS Online has localized for another 9 languages adding support for Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. Now users of the free to access WMS can easily alter their language setting – simply login to your account (yes you need to create a user profile) then under your settings simply select one of the many available language options. According to the official announcement, localized data products are also made available to users, thanks to specially curated content via a number of International Esri disctibutors. See below how my own ArcGIS.com session appears when I set my language to French… tres bon! Notice that the map mashup shown was originally created in English and this the data remains in that language
