GISuser Expert Feature - Low-Tech Field? Think Again  - When the public thinks about landscaping, high tech doesn’t immediately come to mind. After all, this is work involving dirt, manual labor and plants. Mechanical engineering is represented in the form of a backhoe loader, for example, but that’s about as “technological” as the industry gets. Right?

MapMart Teams with OnTerra Systems To Add Worldwide Bing Maps Coverage To The MapMart Cloud E-mail
GIS News - Cloud Computing and Web Services

MapMart Becomes Reseller of OnTerra Systems’ MapSavvy Web Mapping Service To Provide Cost-effective Access To Bing Maps Images Needed For Practical Business Use, Research, or Government Purposes

LONE TREE, Colo., February 14, 2012 - MapMart Cloud, a division of IntraSearch, today announced it has become a reseller of OnTerra Systems’ MapSavvy Web Mapping Service using Bing Maps.  Becoming a reseller of OnTerra Systems’ MapSavvy WMS means that MapMart now can cost-effectively provide its customers with Bing Maps coverage for the entire world.  Where previously only the United States imagery was available, MapMart customers now will be able to obtain
geo-spatial images of the entire planet through the addition of this new offering.

Subscribers to this Bing Maps image capture service will be able to stream Bing Maps content directly into their current projects for base mapping, reference, and feature extraction.  Subscriptions are available on a monthly or annual basis.  This Bing Maps image capture service will be available to MapMart customers on its own, or as a part of MapMart’s Core Bundle -- a collection of frequently and heavily used data sets compiled for easy access.

Web mapping image services such as OnTerra Systems’ MapSavvy WMS provide geospatial images of the planet, which typically are incorporated into planning & design documents.  For example, geospatial images of a specific land area might be accessed and downloaded from Bing Maps for use in transportation and utilities infrastructure planning, general land use planning, energy pipeline development, and more.  Users would simply access Bing Maps for the needed images of a specific area of land, which can be incorporated into planning & design documents.

MapMart provides an extensive array of geospatial information via the Web but did not have a cost-effective Web mapping image capture service.  This alliance with OnTerra Systems allows MapMart to quickly, cost-effectively, and immediately expand its offerings to include fast, affordable Bing Maps image capture.

"Being able to cost-effectively provide our customers with Bing Maps image services worldwide in addition to our current offerings greatly expands what we can offer to customers involved in projects worldwide vs. just in the United States," said Rebecca Murray, MapMart Partner and Product Manager.  "By teaming with OnTerra Systems, we are able to provide access to Bing Maps images worldwide for use in everything from pipeline development, land use planning, transportation and utilities infrastructure planning, and much more," she said.

"MapMart is a major provider of geospatial information via the Web.  The fact that they have become a reseller of our affordable, Web-based Bing Maps image capture services provides strong validation of MapSavvy, OnTerra’s Systems Web-based Bing Maps image capture service," said Steve Milroy, OnTerra Systems CEO.
