(Feb. 6, 2012/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions, is pleased to announce that Brendan J. Wesdock, M.C.P., GISP, has been named president. In this role, Wesdock is responsible for the strategic direction, companywide leadership, business development, and technical direction of the firm. He leads the development and management of information technology (IT) and geographic information system (GIS) operations nationally and internationally. 
   
Wesdock previously served as GeoDecisions’ senior vice president and operations manager, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the firm, and prior to that, he served as GeoDecisions’ director and vice president of military solutions. He also served as the program manager for the patented IRRIS® geospatial decision support system and was instrumental in its success and growth.

IRRIS is a comprehensive suite of capabilities used for real-time command and control, as well as planning and analysis. It incorporates GIS and location-based services into one common interface, providing a single point of access. Under Wesdock’s leadership, the IRRIS program has revolutionized the way the U.S. military views, analyzes, and tracks infrastructure data and mobile assets worldwide, and it has grown to serve numerous U.S. military and homeland security clients.

Wesdock is a frequent presenter at geospatial events and contributor to geospatial and logistics publications. He and his team have been the recipient of numerous awards. “Brendan has been a leader in the geospatial business for many years and has been a driving force in GeoDecisions,” said Anthony J. Pietropola, former president of GeoDecisions. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the president of GeoDecisions, and I have tremendous confidence that Brendan will skillfully lead the firm in the years ahead.” Pietropola served as GeoDecisions president since 2009. He will continue to serve as an executive consultant to the company until his retirement in December 2012.

Prior to joining GeoDecisions in 1999, Wesdock was a senior technical lead for L. Robert Kimball and Associates’ Telecommunications and Technology Division, where he developed innovative applications to support the next generation of E-911 services. He also worked for Rand McNally and Company in the New Media Division as team member of the CODiE™ award winning, first generation, commercial address routing and mapping products TripMaker®, StreetFinder®, and the New Millennium World Atlas®.
 
Wesdock holds a bachelor of science in geography from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a Microsoft® Certified Professional, a Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional, and a member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association and the National Defense Transportation Association.  Wesdock is a resident of Smithfield, Va.
