Here's details of a terrific tool for career seekers and tech professionals looking for opportunities. It's also a fine example to developers on how to use location-aware functionality in your simple, mobile apps, particularly for tablets
I'll say it again... I'm a huge fan of mobile technology, particularly for the developer! However, for the professional and the casual user alike, the amazing availability of apps, particularly location-aware apps, is astounding.
I recently downloaded JobMo on my iPad and was pretty much blown away. The developer has produced a product that is outstanding, useful, simple in concept, and it works! Available for iOS and Android, this popular app has seen tremendous success recently, addressing the growing demand for relevant, current career opportunities, JobMo gives the user access to job postings based on the search parameters provided by the user. The app mashes up several popular career resources (Monster, CareerBuilder) and delivers results that are based on the users' current location (think GPS) or based on a specified location. Upon viewing the results the user can then view a quick text version of the job ad for fast browsing, view the actual post on the original job posting website, and then email the ad to himself or share via common social media properties (twitter, facebook).
The app is a perfect example of how to implement a great idea... it doesn't do too much, it's clean and simple to use, it works, and it provides accurate, localized results. Perhaps most important, the app is available to users of iOS devices, including an app specific for iPad tablet (hugely important) as well as Android device users.
Great job by Kiefer Consulting on this one.. developers take note!
