The TerraLib class Library  E-mail

TerraLib enables quick development of custom-built geographical applications using spatial databases. Ad part of the project, TerraView is licensed as free software under the GNU General Public License. It allows visualization and analysis of spatial data, and includes exploratory spatial data analysis tools.

TerraView 3.0 © has been designed aiming to accomplish two main objectives:

To be an example of how developers could make use of the TerraLib class Library to produce a Geographical Application tool, with spatial analysis capabilities, at no cost and without any license restrictions.

To produce a Geographical Application that serves the Brazilian community of geographical data users. In particular, we are targeting social scientists, and health and education public sectors.

The source-code for the TerraView is available together with the TerraLib 2.0 Library.

TerraLib is a GIS classes and functions library, available from the Internet as open source, allowing a collaborative environment and its use for the development of multiple GIS tools. Its main aim is to enable the development of a new generation of GIS applications, based on the technological advances on spatial databases.

Useful resources supporting the product include:

Detailed notes on the project development can be found in this paper
