Free Webinar! Rebuilding After Sandy: Surveying the Aftermath - Last October, the second-costliest hurricane in U.S. history put our mapping and forecasting systems to the test. As it turns out, the tragic truth is that the best means of determining the accuracy of risk predicted by the Flood Insurance Rate Maps is to have a flood. In this edition of the Amerisurv webinar series, we'll cover key areas of interest to land surveyors, planners, GIS and mapping professionals.

Operators using PODS gathering systems & complex transmission pipeline systems can now automatically keep multiple geometric networks synchronized
Fort Collins, CO. January 11, 2011. New Century Software (http://www.newcenturysoftware.com) announces the release of its new product, Geometric Network Synchronizer. Geometric Network Synchronizer is both an Esri ArcMap extension and a server component that builds and maintains geometric networks in a PODS database. This product is ideally suited for PODS gathering systems and complex transmission pipeline systems.
The Geometric Network Synchronizer adds business intelligence to geometric networks by embedding attribute data into the networks and the pipeline connectivity allows users to visually see how centerlines are connected with each other. The combination of network connectivity and pipeline attribute data can then be used by companion analysis applications to enhance decision-making. For example, the New Century Software Gas HCA tool uses the data for class location analysis.
Geometric Network Synchronizer saves valuable time by automatically synchronizing the geometric network with the pipeline GIS as changes occur. “Our goal is to help our clients increase the accuracy of their pipeline data and increase the efficiency of how they acquire such information,” says Todd Porter, VP of Business Development. “The Geometric Network Synchronizer improves the workflow and creates reporting consistency; this is critical with today’s strict regulations. This new product is robust and because of built-in automation, it offers a tremendous time savings to our clients.”
With Geometric Network Synchronizer, pipeline operators can build multiple geometric networks from PODS and keep them synchronized as edits are made. Major features of Geometric Network Synchronizer include the following:
• Uses dynamic segmentation to combine attributes from multiple tables into a single Geometric Network feature class
• Supports user-defined snapping overrides
• Provides on-the-fly dynamic segmentation
• Allows users to edit data in different projection systems
• Compatible with existing PODS implementations
Geometric Network Synchronizer works right alongside the Spatial Synchronizer application. While Spatial Synchronizer keeps Esri ArcSDE graphics updated as the PODS GIS is updated, Geometric Network Synchronizer works behind the scenes to ensure that your geometric network is kept current. Once created, the geometric network can easily be analyzed using the Esri ArcGIS Utility Network Analyst. Networked PODS features are easily viewed graphically on the desktop with ArcGIS, or on the web with ArcGIS Server.
