GIS News - GIS, Geo Tech Software
Written by Quarry One Eleven for Arc2Earth
24 May 2011

The recent news that the US federal government is looking to purchase cloud-based services with an estimated value of US$2.5 billion should be enough evidence to change the mind of anyone who still thinks that the cloud will float by. Moving data, software and services to the cloud is happening and the pace of this change will only increase.

The Geospatial industry will be no different and those organisations that recognise this first will be the ones that grab the initiative. Moving to the cloud is not without its hurdles but choosing the software and services from a company with the right knowledge and experience will smooth the transition.

New Jersey-based Arc2Earth has been working at the interface of GIS and the web since 2006, creating products that bridge the gap between Esri’s ArcGIS and Google mapping. In the last 5 years, Google has made great strides with their mapping offering (who doesn’t use Google Maps?) culminating in the recent release of the Google Earth Builder. Arc2Earth has matched this rate of development and the latest version of their suite of products covers a range of operations that everyone moving geospatial data into the cloud must achieve.

Quarry One Eleven Ltd. was founded 5 years ago in the UK with the aim of promoting and selling the most innovative geospatial products throughout the European, African and Middle Eastern market places. Given that criteria, it is no surprise to learn that Arc2Earth is partnering with Quarry One Eleven to ensure that everyone in the EMEA region understands the benefits that Arc2Earth software can bring to them.

Arc2Earth clients are at the vanguard of the ‘geo-cloud’ and the Arc2Earth software is used throughout the world (click http://www.arc2earth.com/usagemap/ to see where in real time!) by companies and organisations who need to easily and quickly publish their data directly to the cloud, bring Google imagery into their Esri software and connect their GIS data to Google’s Fusion tables.

Managing Director of Quarry One Eleven; Alistair Maclenan commented that “working with Arc2Earth is exactly why we are in business. Their software is leading edge and gives users a real advantage in a new way of working.”
