Amerilert Safe Towns Launches Next-Gen Emergency Notifications  E-mail
Written by Omnilert
20 May 2011
Safe Towns offers most comprehensive suite of municipal safety communication tools available

LEESBURG, Va., May 18, 2011 -- Governor's Hurricane Conference, Booth #211 -- Omnilert®, LLC, developer of Amerilert®, the leading provider of public safety communication systems for mid-sized corporations, non-profits and government clients, today announced the launch of the next-generation emergency notification system called Safe Towns™. It comprises multiple communication services to enable a town, city, county or region to better manage public safety. It keeps government officials informed while keeping citizens safe and connected with critical information. Priced to be affordable for even the smallest town, Safe Towns is available today for purchase through the U.S. Communities Contract.

From one interface, Safe Towns unites an award-winning emergency notification system, text-a-tip service, information hotline, and crisis collaboration tool. It facilitates better emergency management, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and crime solving through two-way communication and unified mass notification. Safe Towns is a hosted or cloud-based system that can be live and operational within an hour, with minimal IT intervention.

"Safe Towns is a must-have for every community," said Omnilert CEO, Ara Bagdasarian. "The service instantly equips municipalities with the tools necessary to operate at a new level of heightened safety. We are not talking about an implementation that takes months, weeks or days. We are talking about hours or minutes."

At the core of Safe Towns is an award-winning unified emergency notification system (ENS). This CAP 1.2 compliant, TIER-1, GIS-based notification system reliably broadcasts alerts to everyone in every way relevant. Messages are delivered and reported via multiple communication methods including text messages, voice calls, email, public address systems, social media, web site widgets, alert beacons, desktop alerts, and countless other places where a community consumes information. Citizens can subscribe for alerts by mobile opt-in or online registration, plus the town can upload their own data or contract with Amerilert to upload landline phone numbers.

The text-a-tip component enables anyone in the community to submit alerts directly to the PSAP, dispatch center, police department, or command center simply by sending an SMS text message from a standard cell phone. Citizens can use the service to provide live updates during an emergency situation, to provide anonymous crime tips, to request assistance if they feel that they are in danger, or for any number of situations. The text-a-tip service can augment local Neighborhood Watch programs.

The instant crisis collaboration tool is a convenient service that enables administrators to initiate an ad hoc private teleconference to a defined group -- no matter where they are located. This facilitates real-time collaboration during time sensitive situations when multiple parties need to provide input before plans are executed.

The emergency information hotline allows citizens and staff to call a dedicated phone number to hear a recorded alert message. Unlike traditional call answering systems, this service provides amazing capacity to handle thousands of simultaneous incoming calls without busy signals or putting callers on hold. It is ideal for smaller operations that don't have the phone network capacity or staff to handle thousands of calls per minute.

Pricing and Availability

Amerilert Safe Towns is available today for purchase. The system can be live and operational within an hour of purchase. Pre-competed purchase is available through U.S. Communities Contract via GTSI without the requirement to go out to bid – search for Omnilert on GTSI's Vendor Partner List. Safe Towns introductory pricing begins at 25,000 households and is $1,495.00 for the initial setup, plus $2,495.00 for the annual platform fee, plus pre-paid messaging credits. An example of pre-paid SMS message credits would be $8,000 for 100,000 text messages and $8,000 for 100,000 voice calls. Connection to email, web, RSS, Facebook, Twitter, and other CAP compliant systems is included free.

If the town does not have an accurate database of citizen's phone numbers with geo-coded addresses, customers can purchase Safe Town's Citizen Landline Upload service, with introductory pricing starting at $2,500 for 25,000 households. Customers can also purchase Safe Town's Business Landline Upload service, with introductory pricing starting at $2,500 for 25,000 businesses.
