OK, I have an idea for a location based app! If you are a Developer looking for an idea for an app to build, feel free to have at it, because I think this could possibly be a cool little app! Or even a feature to add to your existing navigation app.
So what is the app idea?
How about an app that just gives me the "last part" of my directions. Yeah, last part. I only really use the last part... from the highway to my destination or what freeway exit to take and then where to go from there.
This app would be especially useful if I was leaving my house to go somewhere that I needed text directions to. I already know how to get from my house to the highway, so I just need to know what other highway to take and then what exit to get off at and how to get to my final destination I really don’t need directions from my house to the freeway, so it would be great if I did not have to see them. Know what I mean?
This is also true when you are away from your house. It seems that wherever we are, most of the time it is pretty easy to get yourself to the nearest highway (or freeway), however it is figuring out what exit to take and where to go from there that it gets a bit tricky.
Of course there are times that I really need the full directions, as I don’t know where I am and I don’t know where I am going, but those times are pretty rare.
All the other times I don’t need all the text directions, only the last couple of turns.
This would be a perfect mobile app, as the less directions that need to be displayed to get me to my destination, the easier the app is to use in the car.
So there you have it, a simple idea, but one that I think is needed.
Any takers?
