Mesa Geo 3G Rugged Notepad Ships, Providing Users With the biggest screen available on a Windows Mobile rugged handheld.

Recall it was back in July 2010, in concert with the International Esri User Conference when Juniper Systems officially announced the Mesa Rugged Notepad - the latest addition to its complete lineup of rugged handheld computers. The Mesa, providing a unique platform for dedicated field data collection apps that can withstand the most extreme outdoor environments was initially scheduled to release and ship late 2010/early 2011... well, great news as the Mesa is now shipping and in the hands of users!

The Mesa Rugged Notepad is available in three models: Standard, Geo, & Geo 3G. The Standard Mesa features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® wireless technology, while the Geo model adds 2-5 meter accuracy GPS and a 3.2MP camera enhanced with Juniper Geotagging(TM) (the ability to embed and emboss photos with date, time and GPS position). The Geo 3G model includes camera, GPS, and a 3G GSM data modem for increased speed and connectivity capabilities. The Mesa will be available in U.S. and International versions of each model. Geo Tech end users needing to work in the field and/or harsh environments to collect data and share digital media in concert with these data are interested in the Geo 3G model - Note: Mesa Geo 3G recently completed PTCRB cellular network device certification, which ensures compliance within PTCRB operator networks.

In addition to providing the user with a sturdy, rugged, mobile work horse, the Mesa provides users with the ability to quickly and easily customize features for quick access. The customizable home screen puts the most-used device functions in a finger-friendly on-screen dashboard. Features include user-defined shortcuts and 11 screen gadgets for controlling wireless connections, GPS, texting, email, calendar, and power functions.

Juniper Systems touts the Mesa as providing users with the advantages of a tablet PC and rugged handheld without the disadvantages of either!

From A User

The Remote Sensing / GIS Laboratory (http://www.gis.usu.edu) at Utah State University has been a leader in the field of remote sensing and geospatial analysis in the Intermountain West for the past 20 years. Focusing on natural and human systems, the Lab utilizes the latest resources in advanced computing, data collection, and analysis technology to conduct a wide scope of geospatial analyses. Critical to all areas of research is the ability to complete accurate and rapid field data collection. To facilitate data collection the RS/GIS Laboratory recently purchased a Juniper Systems, Inc. Mesa Rugged Notepad. Juniper Systems equipment is well known for effective spatial data collection in harsh environments. The large screen, extended battery life, 3G communication, GPS, and protection from environmental factors allows lab technicians to collect and show geospatial data effectively while in the field. In testing, the Mesa has proven highly readable in direct sunlight, fantastic portability, and stable operation.
