Another edition of the GISuser Today newsletter was distributed on Jan 11, 2011...

Hello GIS and Geo Tech professional, welcome once again to our bi-weekly news update. To start, you may have noticed that recently we've been posting a few interesting mentions of cool Geo things we've heard about on Twitter. We call these our Geo Tweet Faves and it's our way of sharing some of the coolest things that you've been sharing. Rather than a simple Re-tweet of 140 characters that has a very short life, we'd rather expand on some of the cool tips that the community has been sharing by exploring the tips in a greater detail and providing our readers with a little more info as well as some commentary. So, be sure to keep those twitter tips coming and if you have something really cool to share, make sure you follow @GISuser or myself, @gletham and DM or @ mention me in a tweet if you really want to get my attention. You can find the archive of recent Geo Tweet Faves here including the latest fave that looks at a cool map service in the UK that tracks toilet flushes! Not on Twitter?? No problem, you can always contact us the "old fashioned" way... via email! Oh, FYI, if you're interested in some interesting Twitter Third party add-on tools check out this directory. Interested in mobile, social location apps? See HERE

A few noteworthy Geo Tech news items to share today from the hard at work PR people including: An Updated PDF Maps app is available now on iTunes App Store; via Avenza Systems Inc., more than 55,000 USGS topographic maps are available through the PDF Maps Library to be downloaded and viewed using the PDF Maps app; ERDAS APOLLO 2011 Now Available - ERDAS APOLLO offers consumers higher delivery speed and performance and lower hardware requirements than other market offerings; SuperGIS Supports Digital Map Management System - SMAP collects the map data in two ways; one is to collect field data, such as POI files of GIS formats, satellite imagery, digital line layers, etc, and the other is to purchase the latest satellite imagery; E.Life Maps Who is Tweeting What at CES - an interesting mashup showing which brands were popular and CES and where the fans are.

A few interesting tidbits posted on the AnyGeo blog (blog.gisuser.com) including: Images of the latest "Tech Toy" to drop in my lap as I share some first images of the cool, 12 MP Nokia N8 smartphone; a cool Tech EDU Tip - The Google Science Fair is coming (Online); New York City Audio Tours via iPhone via NY Audio Tour a new location-aware app available in the iTunes shop; are you into tablets?? Here's the Wi-Fi-Only Samsung Galaxy Tab which was featured at CES. These items and more are featured on the AnyGeo blog.
