Here’s a tip about an interesting piece of hardware, the GPS-enabled camera from Rocoh, the G700Se.  

The G700SE comes with a GPS-Compass device. An horizontal accuracy of +/- 10ft enable precise positioning and gapless documentation of any situation possible.

The integrated compass has an accuracy of +/- 3 degrees.  For surveying accuracy, you can connect the RICOH G700SE to external GPS or laser range finder devices via Bluetooth. Supports SD card, has 12 MP camera, Bluetooth and much more. See details specs

Also, a fabulous way to locate and extract Exif data from your photos, enter EXIFextractor - With ExifExtractor you get the option to get access  to all Exif information of your digital photos and implement them to GIS independent data formats
